Movie Review: Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa

ANG SAYAW NG DALAWANG KALIWANG PAA

Directed by: Alvin Yapan and Almberg Ang

The movie explores the connection and to difference between feminist and gay concerns in the third world context. It also shows how movie adapt based on poetry.  The movie setting if it’s not in school, it’s only in the dance studio. The movie is all about a guy student played by Paulo Avelino as Marlon, who really likes his literature professor played by Jean Garcia as Ms. Karen. Since Jean Garcia is also a dance teacher, his student Marlon planning to enroll to her class to be able to catch the attention of his professor. He is frustrated over his performance in literature class, he plans to impress her by some poetic dance movements. Suddenly, here is his classmate in literature; Rocco Naccino played the role of Dennis who is also working as a dance instructor in their professor’s dance class because he needs an extra income. Marlon hires Dennis to teach him the basic of dancing. Marlon and Dennis practice dancing if there is no dance class with the professor. Eventually, Marlon begins to understand the intersections between the art of poetry and dance.  Unexpectedly, Dennis has a heart of woman. He started to fell in love with Marlon during their practices. As a deep person, Ms. Karen  always gives Dennis a silent advice. It means she feels something different between the two young men so she’s giving Dennis an advice without using any direct words. Marlon feels that Dennis betrayed him because he thought Dennis reveal his deepest secret to Karen.  In the end, the professor is still the way for them to catch up things. Marlon and Dennis show their love story through the epic play directed by their professor, Ms. Karen. It’s like love triangle in the beginning but as the story goes, something will happen but in the end it’s not a happy ending. The movie entitled, The Dance of Two Left Feet. According to Mr. Ang, it’s all because you can’t dance alone with love and that love should always be right.
